Walters Wholesale Electrics Company is now offering “Basics of the PLC’s” training classes using the Siemens SIMATIC S7-1200 controllers along with Siemens Basics programming software. The training is designed to train customers on the fundamentals of the hardware and software required to do a real world application with the controller. This class includes a morning lecture teaching the fundamentals and the afternoon is a “hand-on” session using the hardware and software that they were just education on earlier.  At the completion of this class the student should be able to:

Ø      Identify the major components of PLC’s and describe their functions

Ø      Identify typical discrete and analog input and output devices

Ø      Read basic ladder logic diagrams

Ø      Describe the operation of timers and counters

Ø      Connect to a SIMATIC S7-1200 controller from a computer using SIMATIC Basics software

Ø      Make a simple program using contacts, coils, timers, counters, and math blocks

Ø      Save all programming changes on a computer
